PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
South African White Marble is a metamorphic rock formed through the recrystallisation of Limestone or Dolomite under intense heat and pressure deep within the earth's crust, producing a dense, interlocking mosaic of Calcite or Dolomite crystals. The Rustenburg area of South Africa's North West Province sits within ancient Precambrian geology and produces a clean, fine-grained white Marble with excellent structural integrity suited to lapidary work. These spheres have been cut and polished to a smooth high lustre finish, revealing the subtle crystalline texture and occasional veining characteristic of the Rustenburg material. White Marble has been prized for centuries for its purity of colour and the quality of polish it accepts.
