MALACHITE DRIPSTONE SPELEOTHEMS

Botryoidal Malachite with Stalagmites and Stalactites

Botryoidal Malachite from Kolwezi, DR Congo, forms rounded, bubble like masses with botryoidal surfaces in rich velvety green hues, often combined with stalactitic growths (pendant icicle-like columns) and stalagmitic protrusions (upward-growing fingers or mounds) from oxidized copper deposit zones; specimen shows concentric banding, radial fibrous structure internally, vitreous to silky luster on botryoids, and high-contrast textures where stalactites and stalagmites emerge from mounded botryoidal base, occasionally with minor chrysocolla traces or gossan. Typical of Kolwezi mining district pegmatites and caves.
