Blue Smithsonite Aragonite from Congo

Blue Smithsonite Aragonite from the Congo is a rare mineral, prized for its lovely subtle Zinc blue colour, often in banded colour with subtle Cu Greens and white and Brown Aragonite patterns . This zinc carbonate mineral, often found in the oxidized zones of zinc ore deposits, showcases stunning shades ranging from delicate sky blue to intense electric blue, attributed to copper or aurichalcite inclusions. Its lustrous, waxy to vitreous surface and translucent to opaque appearance make it a sought-after collector's piece and a striking addition to jewelry or decorative displays.

Sourced from the Yanga Koubenza Quarries in the Republic of the Congo, this mineral is celebrated for its rarity and aesthetic appeal, with recent small finds in 2021 and 2022 being offered at huge prices per gram recently at Gem Shows, whereas this is old 1990's material that came down from Congo then and we polished them from this lot at old pricing. Very Scarce material.
