PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Polished Cleoniceras Ammonite – Tulear, Madagascar
Cleoniceras ammonite fossils from the Middle Albian (Early Cretaceous) of the Tulear region, Madagascar, preserve the original brown-to-cream Aragonitic shell with a prominent keel, and complete apertures and retain high surface detail including its iconic spiral growth lines and suture exposure. They often have complex and beautiful Spiral Patterned Centers, when cut in half and often have Calcite crystal lined segmentation chambers with contrasting amber calcite, black Fe or/and Iron Oxide coloration and are usually so good that they are considered as the ' Standard" to compete with with World Ammonites. These sometimes come with the Red/Green/Purple Ammolite Opal flash from the hard outer shell taking much longer to fossilise and taking on/extenuating the natural Mother of Pearl from original shell with the silica opalization process.
