Mwinilunga Quartz – Some with Goethite Needles
Natural Mwinilunga quartz crystal plates from Mwinilunga, Zambia, consist of flat crystalline clusters of clear to milky quartz crystals forming tabular or plate-like aggregates. Some specimens contain inclusions of fine goethite needles, appearing as dark acicular strands or sprays within or on the quartz surfaces. These originate from pegmatite or hydrothermal vein deposits in the North-Western Province near Mwinilunga, where iron-rich fluids introduce the goethite during quartz crystallization..
