Copal Amber from Nosy Varika, Madagascar
Copal Amber from Nosy Varika in Madagascar is natural tree resin from Hymenaea trees. It occurs as translucent to gemmy pieces in honey, golden, and orange colours. This copal often contains insect inclusions and plant material. It is a Recent resin up to a few hundred years old and younger than true amber. It is available in natural rough, polished, and carved forms. Nosy Varika is a primary source on the east coast of Madagascar.
