SALROSE

Salrose (French for "salt rose") is crystalline cobalt-bearing dolomite from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This pink mineral, formed by cobalt substituting for magnesium in dolomite (CaMg(CO₃)₂), comes from copper-cobalt deposits in southern and central Congo, like Kakanda and Kambove. Specimens may include malachite or other copper minerals, but not always. Salrose ranges from pale, milky pink crystals to rare, deep pink gemmy material (Mohs hardness 3.5–4), with color and clarity setting its value. A vibrant, affordable collectible for Toprocks.com.
