Candle Quartz: A Unique and Beautiful Quartz Formation from Madagascar
Candle Quartz is a captivating variety of Quartz, closely related to Pineapple (Love) Quartz, characterized by its white patina exterior, resembling candle wax—hence the name. This unique form of Quartz is found in Madagascar, known for producing a wide range of quartz varieties both in the north and south of the country.
The deposits yield larger single crystals, clusters and plate-like specimens, often featuring complex and dense arrangements of small crystals. These clusters can take on plate or vug-like habits, with some specimens occasionally displaying rare Hematoid coloration. The material is meticulously cleaned and often treated with acid to enhance its appearance, although minor damage can be expected, especially in lower-grade pieces.
