Smokey Quartz specimens from the Erongo Mountains, Namibia, display translucent smoky brown to deep greyish-black hues or the nearly opaque jet-black Morion variety, with Mohs hardness of 7 and coloration from natural irradiation and trace Aluminium; common inclusions and associated minerals include Schorl Black Tourmaline as needles, coatings, or clusters, Hyalite Opal (often UV-fluorescent), Hematite (reddish specks or inclusions), Fluorite (purple or green cubes), Microcline Feldspar, Orthoclase, and occasional traces of Pyrite, Topaz, Beryl, or Enhydro.
