PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Smoky Quartz from Mulanje, Malawi
Smoky quartz from Mulanje, Malawi, consists of translucent to gemmy crystals ranging from light smoky brown to deep brown-black or Morion shades, often forming prismatic points, twins, or clusters on feldspar or other pegmatite matrix. Specimens frequently include associated minerals such as aegirine needles, riebeckite, or rutile inclusions, with the smoky coloration resulting from natural radiation exposure during growth in alkaline pegmatite deposits of the Mulanje Massif in the Southern Region. These crystals exhibit high luster, sharp terminations, and clarity that varies from near-transparent to opaque.
