PRODUCT INFORMATION

General Description

Dumortierite is a fibrous, multi-coloured Aluminium Boro-Silicate mineral with the chemical composition Al₇BO₃(SiO₄)₃O₃. This mineral crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, typically forming fibrous aggregates of slender prismatic crystals. These crystals possess a vitreous lustre and come in a range of colours, including brown, blue, green, and the rarer violet and pink varieties. Madagascar is home to limited deposits of this material, which are meticulously transformed into beautiful polished pieces. The material's stunning blue hue often resembles apatite, but there exists a distinct chemical differentiation between the two minerals. Dumortierite is exceptionally rare and highly sought after by collectors.
