New material which is rich berry coloured, purple, with some blue hues in sections - discovered in 2022! Its actually quite spectacular! The richly intense purple and blue Quartz has a venation like patterns sometimes showing complex white quartz intrusive exposures! Its not Amethyst that's for sure, first thought was blue rose quartz. We have had people question if this is rather not a feldspar, however, Based on the variable transparency of the material, but more importantly based on the obvious cleavage evident in the material this is definitely quartz. Feldspar primarily lacks transparency and tends to have a block like or angular cleavage plain, unlike the more rounded / conchoidal cleavage of quartz. The closest colour we could think of was Sugilite, hence the name. The material may have limonite / haematoid like features or matrix exposures. Very weirdly Wonderful Stuff. Only a tiny about of material has been mined and worked, with majority of the deposit being kept for XL to XXXXXL decor items.
