PRODUCT INFORMATION

General Description

Dumortierite is a fibrous variably coloured Aluminium Boro-Silicate mineral, Al₇BO₃(SiO₄)₃O₃. Dumortierite crystallizes in the orthorhombic system typically forming fibrous aggregates of slender prismatic crystals. The crystals are vitreous and vary in colour from brown, blue, and green to more rare violet and pink. Madagascar yields very small deposits of this material which then gets beautifully polished . The material has a stunning blue colour which often appears almost like apatite but there is a distinctive chemical differentiation between the two minerals. Exceptionally rare and highly collectible material. Price is grade dependant. Item/s are as shown.
