Mulanje refers to Mount Mulanje, a mountain in southern Malawi, and the surrounding Mulanje district and small town in the tea-growing region near Blantyre. The Zomba Plateau in Malawi is a mineral collector’s paradise, showcasing a stunning variety of minerals embedded in Orthoclase matrices. Smokey Quartz steals the spotlight, ranging from dark, gemmy hues to deep Morion and jet-black varieties, often featuring Aegirine, Riebeckite, or Rutile inclusions, with recent discoveries of Green Chlorite phantoms adding rare allure. Aegirine appears in glossy black crystals or fibrous green clusters, typically with intricate terminations rather than needle-like forms. These specimens, marked by self-healing traits and unique geological origins, captivate collectors with their complex beauty and natural history.
