Natural Floater Smokey Quartz with Feldspar Cluster x 1 From Erongo Namibia
A NOTE FROM NICK
A Rare Natural Large Intact Floater Smokey Quartz, with Feldspar and some Foitite Cluster. A Grade Beauty!
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Smoky quartz (SiO₂), a macrocrystalline variety of quartz colored by natural irradiation-induced color centers and trace aluminum impurities, exhibits a translucent to opaque brown-to-gray hue and vitreous luster, typically forming prismatic hexagonal crystals terminated by rhombohedral faces; in this specimen, it is intimately intergrown with feldspar—predominantly orthoclase or microcline (KAlSi₃O₈)—manifesting as creamy-white to pinkish cleavable masses with characteristic perthitic textures, while minor fluorite (CaF₂) occurs as cubic crystalline inclusions or veinlets displaying isotropic optical properties, fluorescence under UV light, and perfect octahedral cleavage, collectively forming a polymineralic assemblage likely originating from a granitic pegmatite or hydrothermal vein system where late-stage fluorine-rich fluids facilitated fluorite precipitation alongside quartz and alkali feldspar crystallization.
