PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Exquisite Aegirine from the Malawi
Aegirine from Zomba Mountain, part of the Zomba Plateau in Malawi’s Southern Region, is renowned for its striking, prismatic crystals, typically dark green to black, though some exhibit green fibrous or acicular forms. Found in alkali pegmatites of the Chilwa Alkaline Province, these crystals often grow in complex clusters or as single specimens, frequently associated with Orthoclase, Smoky Quartz, and Zircon. Zomba Aegirine is notable for its lustrous, vitreous sheen and monoclinic crystal structure. Some crystals display unique pyramidal terminations or partial alteration to Riebeckite, adding to their geological intrigue. These specimens, often set against light-colored feldspar, are visually captivating and highly valued by collectors for their aesthetic and scientific significance.
