PRODUCT INFORMATION

General Description

Shiny Schorl Black Tourmaline terminated crystals associated with the occasional Smokey Quartz, Feldspar, Hyalite Opal (fluorescent), Vermiculite Mica and Fluorite. Schorl is the most common form of Tourmaline. It may be highly lustrous and form in beautiful crystals, and is one of the most aesthetic black minerals known. It may form in tiny dense needles within a Quartz crystal where it is known as Tourmalinated Quartz. Our black Tourmaline mostly comes from the Erongo Region of Namibia which yields some of the best specimen grade material in the world. Specimens of Tourmaline broadly tend to have Mercedes or acicular terminations, occurring as either single crystals or clusters which display a wide range of habits. Minerals associations from Erongo can include Hyalite Opal, Quartz, Smokey Quartz, Feldspar and Orthoclase. Always a winner in any retail environment as highly sought after. Schorl is used in the walls of international space stations as it is recognized to absorb electromagnetic / solar radiation. The deposits around the Erongo Mountain region of Namibia yield some of the best Tourmaline specimens in the world.

The photographs are representative of either the entire stock item offered, else a representative sample of the broader batch. Variation is to be expected across individually selected batches.
