Ranging in hardness from 2.5 to 7.0, this mineral typically emerges in the oxidation zones of copper ore bodies, forming alongside quartz, limonite, azurite, malachite, cuprite, and other secondary copper minerals. In its natural state, Malacholla frequently manifests as robust, rounded masses or vein fillings, with Congo being a primary source of this mineral spectacle, occasionally accompanied by specimens from Namibia.
