PRODUCT INFORMATION

General Description

Leopard rock is a hard and unusual variety of Serpentine. It comes from a few small mines in Nyanga, eastern Zimbabwe, and gets its name from the black spots on a pale background. There is a sub-variety from Shamva, north of Harare, which is stronger yellow colour. This is a fairly old material which has often been used in Shona art carvings but has not been polished in a classical sense for many years. Thus is a "new" material which is back on the market! The polishing is done by expert Malagasy lapidaries in South Africa. Brand new items suitable for any retail space looking for something different.

Lepidolite is a lilac-grey or rose-coloured member of the Mica group of minerals. It is the most abundant Lithium-bearing mineral and is a secondary source of this metal. It is a phyllosilicate mineral and a member of the polylithionite-trilithionite series. A lovely Lepidolite from a new mine in Zimbabwe. The material is then beautifully polished in SA. A very nice range of red to purple like colour which is consistent across the pieces. This is top quality selected material for richness of colour. This is very funky material and is not commonly available from other regions. Very affordable.

Price is grade dependent. Item/s are as shown.
