PRODUCT INFORMATION

General Description

Very few lapidary workshops exist left in Africa, and even fewer in Namibia. Therefore, having polished stable fluorite being mined in Namibia and being polished to Malagasy standard in South Africa is phenomenal. This Fluorite deposit being mined in Uis, Namibia which has a range of blue, green and purple colours with sometimes intrusive quartz exposures showing on the pieces. Toprock Namibia discovered this deposit some 19 years ago and only started to mine it actively in the recent few years. The deposit yields 30 - 60 cm thick plates which run about 15m deep. Some sections of the deposit yields gemmy green pieces with less diversity of colour. The multicolour material is normally referred to as Watermelon Fluorite due to the unique colour combinations. The unique hydrothermal quartz action has consolidated the fluorite, and thus it is less prone to cracking during polishing. Price is grade dependent. Items are as shown.
