PRODUCT INFORMATION

General Description

Zim miners getting creative, they pretty funky and not immediately obvious fakes! Good for education application. Generally Speaking - ' Chiredzi, a renowned source of exquisite amethyst Smokey quartz crystals, is celebrated for its striking resemblance to the famous Brandberg amethyst. These captivating crystals often feature Lepidocrocite specular or needle-like inclusions, along with skeletal, window, and sceptre features, enhancing their allure. In the early days, the first few batches of material we received exhibited a relatively high percentage of damage. However, our regional efforts have made a significant impact, as we've worked closely with miners to instil greater care in their extraction methods, thereby reducing the frequency of damage. Moreover, the average size of these remarkable crystals has increased since our initial acquisitions, with specimens between 40 to 80mm becoming more prevalent. The crystals from this region often arrive stained or coated with complex patinas, necessitating specialized cleaning methods to reveal their true beauty. Chiredzi's presence in the gemstone world dates back to late 2018 and early 2019, with limited material available until recently. At Toprock, we have devoted substantial resources and manpower to explore the region, seeking the source and origins of this exceptional material. As a result, we now directly source from a diverse range of regional deposits spanning from Chiredzi to Shangani. Notably, Chiredzi was initially named for deposits in Zimbabwe, but more gemmy material has since been reported from Zambia, with recent deposits emerging in Mozambique. Discover the enigmatic beauty of Chiredzi's amethyst Smokey quartz crystals, a testament to nature's artistry and the meticulous efforts invested to bring them to the world. Price is grade dependant.
