PRODUCT INFORMATION
General Description
Natural blue semi translucent kyanite "Stick" crystals with black mica flakes! Average size range from 50 to 100 mm with a few smaller and few larger. Each batch includes 12 to 17 specimens. Kyanite is typically a blue aluminosilicate mineral, usually found in aluminium-rich metamorphic pegmatites and/or sedimentary rock. Kyanite in metamorphic rocks generally indicates pressures higher than four kilobars. Our crystals are sourced from the Karoi deposits of Zimbabwe which occur in fissures often filled with black Mica. The crystals sizes are mostly small to medium in size with less than 5% of the deposits yielding larger specimen grade crystals. Kyanite is a very sought after stone type for jewellery making and in the alternative market. Zimbabwean Kyanite has a rich blue colour but the gemmy clarity is variable. Other colours are known from other parts of the world, black, green and orange Kyanite crystals have been reported previously. The photographs are representative of either the entire stock item offered, else a representative sample of the broader batch. Variation is to be expected across individually selected batches. However, all batches / items within this stock item are fully sorted and selected accordingly to associated grade.
