Cleoniceras Ammonite Fossils with Iridescent Shell - Cretaceous, Maintirano Madagascar
Cleoniceras Ammonites from Maintirano, Madagascar, are stunning fossilized remains of marine mollusks that lived around 110-145 million years ago during the Cretaceous period. These ammonites are characterized by their tightly coiled, disc-like shells with fine, evenly spaced ribs on the surface. These are particularly exceptional due to the preservation of their nacreous shell layer, which displays a breathtaking iridescence with vibrant hues of green, blue, red, and purple. The play of colors, caused by light interference within the aragonite shell, gives these ammonites an opal-like sheen, making them a rare and captivating addition to any collection.
