A NOTE FROM NICK
Hi TopRockers, I’m excited to share an update on the specimens we initially identified as Emeralds in Matrix. Lab testing has revealed they are not true Emeralds, as they lack Beryl, the mineral behind Emeralds green hue. Instead, they are a newly identified Chromium-rich mineral in the Mica family, now classified as Emerald Mica (Chrome Muscovite). While not genuine Emeralds, these specimens feature stunning green hues and intricate matrix patterns, making them unique and valuable. You can view the latest lab results of the specimens HERE.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Mutokolite (Emerald Mica)
Mutokolite, a newly classified Chromium-rich Chrome Muscovite from Mutoko, Zimbabwe, is a rare mineral initially mistaken for Emeralds in Matrix due to its vivid emerald-green color. Unlike true Emeralds, which contain Beryl, Mutokolite’s hue comes from high Chromium content within its layered, sheet-like Mica structure, displaying a pearly to vitreous luster and often encased in a silky silver Mica Schist matrix. Highly valued for its gemmy quality and intricate patterns, making it a distinctive unique gem that highlights the geological richness of the Mutoko region.
