Natural Large Aegirine Smokey Quartz and Orthoclase Specimens x 6 from Zomba, Malawi

R 1,155.00 ZAR
Zomba mountain associated to the Zomba Plateau in Malawi yields a diversity of minerals in complex arrangements and mix of associations. Orthoclase is a primary matrix, with Smokey quartz, aegirine & zircon being the mostly cooccurring species. The deposits are wide spread and show a diversity of habits and forms of the crystals. Smokey quartz from the region ranges from dark gemmy to morion and pitch black. Often having aegirine inclusions but riebeckite and rutile are also fairly common. Aegirine is recovered as either black shiny or green fibrous single crystals or in clusters. Classic terminations are more frequent that acicular terminations. Zomba is often seen as NONE classically beautiful specimens, but they are rather complex and fascinating in terms of formative processes. Zomba often has a high % of self healed specimens. Zomba is by far one of our favourite localities in the world. We love Zomba! Price is grade dependant. Items are as shown.
