These Madagascan specimens are preserved in Calcite within a Limestone matrix, and are renowned for their distinctive logarithmic spiral form and intricate suture patterns formed where internal chamber walls met the outer shell. Shell material is typically replaced by Calcite during fossilisation, producing warm creams, browns, and occasionally pyritised golden tones depending on the deposit. Madagascar's western sedimentary basins are among the most prolific Ammonite localities in the world, consistently producing well-preserved specimens across a range of sizes.

ASSOCIATED MINERALS
Calcite, Limestone

ASSOCIATED FEATURES
Polished Exterior, Intricate Suture Patterns, Fossil, Decorative, Sedimentary Matrix, Fluorescent

ASSOCIATED COLOURS
Cream, Brown, Tan, Gold

MOHS HARDNESS SCALE
3 to 3.5

PRODUCT DATA
Locality = Madagascar
Grade = Very Good Grade
Size = 332 x 263 x 88 mm

https://www.toprocks.com/products/polished-xl-rare-phylloceras-genus-ammonite-fossil-x-1-from-tulear-madagascar
