The Orange River corridor of the Northern Cape is one of South Africa's most celebrated mineral localities, producing Quartz specimens with exceptionally heavy Hematite saturation that ranges from bright orange-red through to deep brick red and burgundy depending on the oxidation state of the iron. These natural crystal clusters display well-formed prismatic terminations with the characteristic red iron staining penetrating deep into the crystal body rather than sitting only on the surface.
