Schorl crystals are characterised by their strongly striated prismatic habit, with vertical striations running the full length of each crystal face, a diagnostic feature of the Tourmaline group produced by the trigonal crystal symmetry during growth. These rough Zambian specimens display the characteristic jet black colouration, sub-vitreous to resinous lustre, and well-developed prismatic terminations typical of quality Schorl from the region..

ASSOCIATED MINERALS
Schorl, Quartz, Feldspar

ASSOCIATED FEATURES
Trigonal, Prismatic, Striated, Resinous, Vitreous, Pleochroic

ASSOCIATED COLOURS
Black, Charcoal

MOHS HARDNESS SCALE
7 to 7.5

PRODUCT DATA
Locality = Zambia
Grade = Good Grade
Size = 24 - 45 mm
