Zambian material consistently comes through with well-defined Tourmaline inclusions and good crystal form.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Natural Black Tourmaline in Quartz Specimens Zambia
Zambian Black Tourmaline in Quartz, known mineralogically as Schorl, is a complex iron-rich Boron Silicate that forms in granitic pegmatites and metamorphic environments, where its strongly striated prismatic crystals develop alongside and within growing Quartz bodies. In these Zambian specimens, Schorl crystals have been captured within the Quartz matrix during simultaneous crystallisation, producing vivid black needle-like to prismatic inclusions suspended in clear to milky white Quartz host rock. Zambia's Precambrian metamorphic and pegmatite geology provides ideal conditions for this Tourmaline-Quartz association, consistently producing specimens with well-defined Schorl crystals and good contrast against the lighter Quartz matrix. The sharp visual contrast between the opaque jet black Tourmaline and the translucent Quartz host makes these highly attractive both as display specimens and as lapidary material.

ASSOCIATED MINERALS
Schorl, Quartz, Black Tourmaline

ASSOCIATED FEATURES
Trigonal, Prismatic, Striated, Vitreous, Translucent, Acicular

ASSOCIATED COLOURS
Black, White, Clear, Grey

MOHS HARDNESS SCALE
7 to 7.5

PRODUCT DATA
Locality = Zambia
Grade = Medium to Good Grade
Size = 32 - 62 mm
