PRODUCT INFORMATION

General Description

Rhodonite is a Manganese inosilicate, SiO₃ and a member of the pyroxenoid group of minerals, crystallizing in the triclinic system. It commonly occurs as cleavable to compact masses with a rose-red colour. Material has a sporadic supply from Madagascar with each piece being hand selected for colour and complexity of patterns. The Rhodonite occurs with black Chromite and has a high weight to size ratio. The pink colour is variable from a dusky pink to semi gemmy which is exceptionally rare. This is an extremely hard stone, and every piece is polished to perfection. Price is grade dependent. Items are as shown. General Information - The name Rhodonite comes from rhodos, the Greek word for rose, referring to the stone's distinct pink or rose red colour. Banded Rhodonite became a very popular ornamental stone during the 1930s, after the discovery of the material in Argentina – this regional material is sometimes called Inca Rose. Price is grade dependant. Items are as shown.
