PRODUCT INFORMATION

General Description

Agate is any translucent microcrystalline form of silica. Agates tend to be translucent, while Jaspers are more opaque and do not allow light to pass through them. Agate and crystalline Agate are a fairly staple product from Madagascar. The agate is sourced country wide and mostly polished in Antananarivo. The material ranges from banded grey and white to dendritic black spotted and fortification features with crystals from clear, white or pale, to bright purple Amethyst. The majority of material tends to be cut and polished, with very little of the material being left unworked. This is very different from standard Brazilian dyed material as we only supply material with natural colour. Only the top 20% of material is selected. Price is grade dependent. Items are as shown.
