Natural Rare Coprolite Trace Fossil Collectible Specimens x 6 from Mahajanga, Madagascar

R 693.00 ZAR
Trace fossils are remnants of our ancient past but are fossils which are not directly related to the physical remains of an organism but rather fossils which give us an indication of behaviour associated to a group of organisms. Fossil track ways and coprolites (i.e. poo) are perhaps some of the most commonly found trace fossils. The coprolites from Madagascar are believes to be associated to giant sea turtles during the Triassic to Cretaceous periods. These dinosaur aged fossil often show variable levels of preservation and have become extremely rare. This is old stock which has been hiding in the back of the warehouse. The colours range from a off yellow to a brown to red brown colour. Selected specimens show a classic coprolite like morphology (shape) whilst others have a spikey look to them as they have began to degrade. A very nice oddity for the collectors, or even the kids. Price is grade dependant. Items are as shown.
