Lower Mpushini Protected Environment

Toprock is situated in a beautiful and wild Protected Natural area in a thorny bushveld forested region near to Pietermaritzburg in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa. Despite the fact that many movies seem to depict Africa as being pure virgin wilderness, this generally only stands on some remote places...most of it has been poached out, farmed out or developed out...heading towards that "1st World" decimation of most natural thingsin many places, to be replaced by man made surroundingds...so called "civilisation"..and not a little terrible 3rd world destruction added into it too....a very sad thing indeed to see happen..Soooo..since we arent that civilised, we decided that we would have little to do with that side of things and that we would buy up land to keep exactly as it is...with fauna and flora intact. All of the neighbours decided the same thing, luckily so we have an area of several thousand acres, fences taken down, virgin bush intact and around 40 endemic species to the area protected, Zebra, Nyala, Monkeys, Impala (and all sorts of buck), Wildebeest, Pythons, Mamba's, Cobra's spiders, butterflies...all excatly where they are supposed to be in their own territory...with us as neighbours. Nicole, my lovely wife, is Chairlady for MPELA Protected Area and we do what we can to keep it just as it is.
