Lovely Green & Red Patterned Bastite Dragonstone Rough Cutting Material Sold per ton. This is a very unique stone type, with lovely bright red Piedmontite dots, spots and Patterns in different shades of Green Epidote. We used to use this material many years ago when we found a small amount at Messina Mines, but there was never more than a few kg to a hundred Kilograms or every now and again, so this tonnage material is a new stone on the international market, with only a couple of containers ever having left the shores of South Africa. Most people will not have seen it or heard of it, but it is a beautifully patterned gemstone with nice stark contrast between the bright red and the bright and mottled green matrix colour. The Stone is formed near Copper deposits and in all 3 locations that we have found it, it is always just on the periphery area of the copper pockets where there has been Hotspring activity in the distant past through the Copper . It is not common knowledge where to find this particular stone and this huge lot has been collected from a suspected new copper bonanza (which we have been working on for a while). Hardness is around 6.5 on the Moh Scale and it cuts nicely. We have made a couple of hundred spheres and some cabochons, freeforms with it and we are impressed. It can occasionally tend to have a very slight dry spot texture which is sorted out by using a light stone resin or stone sealer before final polish,(to get a high polish) but it is also perfectly adequate without this normally, as most of the material doesn't require this. This is the first time we are offering this Dragon Stone in bulk tonnage(we have 44 tons).
