General Description
Moonstone is a fairly new and rare variety of Moonstone. It is a Potassium Aluminium Silicate Feldspar. The colour is usually a tan brown to a very light peach/pink. This material is otherwise known as Orange Microcline Feldspar. The material has variable levels of colour intensity with veins one some pieces, and others having a shimmer like effect on the standing free forms. Generally Speaking - Microcline is an important igneous rock-forming tectosilicate mineral. It is a Potassium-rich alkali Feldspar. Microcline typically contains minor amounts of Sodium. It is common in Granite and Pegmatites. Microcline forms during slow cooling of Orthoclase, it is more stable at lower temperatures than Orthoclase. Price is grade dependent.
