PRODUCT INFORMATION

General Description

Black Ammonites are by far the rarest colour mix! Don’t miss out on this highly selected stock! Very collectible, and exceptionally rare! Ammonites which have variable features including crystalline, sediment or calcified segments. All very beautiful. Grading cut ammonites is always a very difficult task. The fact that these wonderful fossils have been so well preserved for millions on years is just exceptional in itself. However, when segments are less distinctive, or have calcite infills without crystalline vugs the grade tends to be negatively impacted. Higher graded material will have clearly distinctive segments, crystalline areas, and often a mix of calcite infills or sedimentary infills. Ammonites from Madagascar tend to be Triassic to Cretaceous in age, with several different species being available sporadically. Price is grade dependent. Items are as shown.
